The Bay Port Dredged Material Re-Handling Facility (Bay Port facility) is owned and operated by the Brown County Port and Recovery Department and is located in the northeast area of the City of Green Bay along the bay of Green Bay. Consisting of approximately 200 acres, the Bay Port facility receives dredged material from the Fox River and bay of Green Bay primarily generated from maintenance dredging of the federal navigation channel by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The Bay Port facility also receives dredged material generated from other waterway projects outside the navigation channel to promote the Port of Green Bay.
Dredged material generated from USACE maintenance of the federal navigation channel has been placed in the Bay Port facility since the mid-1950s, although the use of the Bay Port facility for managing dredged material became regulated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) in 1985. The current Bay Port facility was approved for construction in 1997 and began dewatering dredged material in 1998.
